The free plan was sufficient for our annotation test. Standard may suit users who need paid editing without conversion, while Advanced is the relevant plan for conversion workflows. The permanent plan may appeal to long-term desktop users, but it should not be interpreted as a lifetime multi-device licence.

Is PDF Reader Pro worth it?
PDF Reader Pro may be worth considering if you need reliable free annotation and want the option to add paid editing or conversion later. Highlighting, adding a note and saving the annotated PDF all worked cleanly in our Windows test. The paid plans require more caution because the 7-day Advanced trial renews into annual billing unless cancelled.
It is less compelling for occasional PDF reading or for workflows dominated by research synthesis. Before buying, test the documents that matter: complex layouts, scanned pages, conversions, annotations and any AI-generated output.
